Hop diggity dawg

It’s too darn hot as I believe Cole Porter once remarked. Talking of Porter, we do have one on tap tonight along with the normal wide variety of good stuff.

If you like your beer a bit colder and fizzier we have just had some new keg lines added. For a limited time we have Palm back on tap (I bought the last 9 kegs in the UK!!!!). We also have De Koninck, a belgian pale(ish) ale from Antwerp and from Tiny Rebel we have Clwb Tropicana, it’s not a typo – they’re Welsh, a 5.6 fruit salad in a glass pale ale.

Something for everyone to wash down their pizza with.

Is it payday week?

Do you know what? I’m not sure.

Maybe it’s because last Friday and Saturday were really busy. On Friday I thought there was a gin drinking tournament taking place!

We have some good stuff in the cellar including GWB, Arbor and Plain Ales. We also have a cask of Ramsbury Belapur IPA. Also a few beers from breweries we’ve not had before such as Cotleigh from down Taunton way in Zummerzet and a beer from Triple fff in Alton, Hants – Alton Pride which has won lots of awards over the years.

Did I mention Bristol Beer Factory? No? Well have a couple of theirs to throw into the mix.

Sorry but not a clue at the moment when any of them might be going on. Whatever you have is going to be good.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget the rugby on Saturday and Sunday.

17th Feb – are all those red roses wilting yet?

Post Valentinian greetings to you all

It’s getting warmer but to still cheer you up a bit we’ve got a couple of typical Arbors (pale and fruity), we’ve got two new XTs (again both pale).

The next stout / porter on will be from our very own Old Town Brewery, 4.5% “Bushwhacker” porter.

Add to this some beers from the Electric Bear brewery in Bath, new to The Hop, and a lip smacking 7.5% IPA from Firebrand in Cornwall there has got to be something there to tickle your fancy and wash down your pizza!

It’s spring time but you wouldn’t know it.

We have a cellar full of beer and a shelf full of gin.

Add a pizza or some olives and it won’t matter that it feels like winter outside.

If you have never had green beer then now’s your chance. On tap at the moment is Signs of Spring concocted by Stig, the mad Dane that owns Stonehenge Ales.

And another 6 nations weekend comes around

We have some belting beers in the cellar from the likes of Arbor, Alechemy, Bristol Beer Factory and Tiny Rebel (to name but a few).

Why not come along tomorrow afternoon for the England game, have one of Ian’s luvverly stone baked pizzas and wash it all down with some of the heady brews on offer.

Could it get any better?

Ian the Pizza man………………………………….

Apart from a great range of beers in the cellar from favourites such as Arbor, Raw, Brightside, Milk Street, Animal & XT we are pleased to announce that Ian the Pizza man will be in tomorrow with his luvverly hand made stonebaked pizzas. He does realise it’s not a 6 nations weekend but he enjoyed himself so much in the last two weeks that he just can’t stay away.

So come and have a beer & pizza frenzy.

It’s a bit breezy out there tonight

You had better not venture any further than The Hop.

Tonight’s beers are:

  • Kiwi, a dark amber 4.6% from Brightside in Manchester
  • Maid Marian, 4.3% golden from Milestone in Nottingham
  • Danish Dynamite, 5% and very pale indeed from Stonehenge in Netheravon
  • Inndulgence, a fab 5.2% Ruby Porter from Plain Ales near Salibury
  • Hop Inn Ale, our stalwart 4% bitter from good old Ramsbury.

It’s more of a dark grey Friday at The Hop

“Discount” – now there’s a word that gives me the shudders!

Following on from my Halloween rant, we can move swiftly on to Black Friday, grrrrrrr!

Don’t even get me started on the over use of the word “iconic”. So many b****y things are iconic nowadays…………………………… grrrrrrr!

Right then, at your  iconic Hop Inn tonight we have:

Red Dakota, an  iconic 5.4% beer from the  iconic Red Squirrel brewery

Kraftwerk a 5.5 % weissbier from Butts Brewery, named after the  iconic German electro band

The  iconic Enterprise from Shiny 4.6%

Old Smokey from Stonehenge (hang on, Stonehenge could be described as  iconic) a 5% stout

Am I getting soft or is it a bit brass monkeys out there tonight?

I’m off up to The Hop shortly and looking forward to doing a bit of Quality Control

  • Hoptuit Pale Ale from Bridestone @ 4.2%
  • Blue Sky Drinking from Arbor, 4.4% Copper coloured beer (mmmmmmm!!)
  • The pithily named “Beer” from Milk Street in Frome, a 5% Blonde
  • Chocolata 5.5% chocolate stout from Arbor
  • Don’t forget the Hop Inn Ale 4% bitter from Ramsbury.

It looks a pretty good selection to me, see you later.

Halloween, Schwalloween………………….

Nasty American invention, unlike quite a few of our bottled beer offering such as Single Wide IPA from Boulevard Brewery in Kansas City.

Come along tonight for a typically varied selection of cask beers from around the country.

For all you stout and porter lovers we have some belters. On tonight we have Kitty Wilkinson (Chocolate & Vanilla Stout) from Liverpool Organic and coming soon is an intriguing sounding Old Liquorice Stout from Empire Brewing in Huddersfield.

See you later
